Days 1-4 were all right (although I had trouble taking Yoosung’s character seriously), but 5-7 were the worst. I did enjoy allowing her to get pissed after the bomb threat though. MC plays out as a warm and caring individual, but her whole life revolves around Zen and the parties now, and it’s all very bleh. Sorry Zenny, you’re cute and all, but I just don’t buy that you’re the hottest thing on legs when Jumin’s still walking around. Points off for being a huge narcissist though (as well as slightly repetitive).Īppearance: 9/10. It’s also refreshing to see a not-tsundere type done so well. Zen’s an unwavering sweetheart, and I absolutely loved that about his character, since I’m not a huge fan of wishy washy characters. The optimal Zen chat options from Day 5-7 were quite stupid, yes, but Days 8 and onwards were a joy to play. Speaking of which, hats off to for making the payoff with Zen’s route super satisfying. Also, it was cute to see all the RFA members rally around Zen and his problems, and then rally to help the MC after the bomb threat was discovered. Echo Girl’s false accusations of sexual misconduct are rather interesting given all the conversation today, over two years later, surrounding sexual assault and Hollywood. I did enjoy the relatively lighthearted (if overly dramatic) conflict that the game threw at me during his route though, as well as its resolution. Also, starting Day 5 (when I’d “locked in” his route), the optimal choices to continue down his route felt super awkward - there’s no way I would be whining about how much I missed some guy in a chatroom full of strangers after just a few days of meeting the dude online! But he’s also the world’s biggest narcissist - and to “beat” his route, I quickly realized that you have to constantly feed his ego, and that got annoying super fast. Zen’s a sweetheart, and I love all the selfies that the game threw at me. Silly premise aside, I stumbled across Zen’s route like most first time players, and…oh, man. You (the MC) download an app on a whim, go to a strange apartment on a whim, meet a bunch of people online, and are suddenly put in charge of coordinating with guests for a charity party in 11 days? ![]() Practically everyone I know has heard of Mystic Messenger - the crazy visual novel that everyone was talking about back in 2016. ![]()
